History

White Light is the complete technical solution specialist operating in a range of markets such as theatre, concert touring, corporate events, broadcast, themed attractions, education, retail and leisure.

Since our formation in 1971, we have forged a reputation for supplying technical solutions including lighting, audio, video and rigging to projects of all sizes across the UK, Europe and worldwide.

We started life in London’s West End: our first job was the transfer of The Rocky Horror Show from the Royal Court Theatre Upstairs to the Kings Road Theatre and we subsequently supplied shows that would become international successes. Whilst we still work in theatre, recently supplying new productions such as Aladdin and Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, in recent years we have diversified significantly. Building on our theatre reputation, we now work in a variety of markets including broadcast, concert touring, corporate events, retail, education, worship and many more. Our clients include Adidas, ITV, Gucci, Arup, Selfridges, BBC Worldwide, Warner Brothers and Westfield to name but a few. With every client, we have maintained the same customer focus and commitment to quality that led to our previous success.

We have a dedicated Customer Service team to help you with any sales or hires inquiries you may have. Our installation team have provided the very latest AV and lighting systems to venues as far afield as Germany, Singapore and Macau. Our Service Engineers maintain and support venues around the country either as required or through long-term service contracts. Similarly, our Events team offers the complete production support on any occasion, from equipment rental to design, specification, installation, crewing and operation.

Though our equipment stock is one of the most diverse and comprehensive in the business, we’re also happy to create products if we can’t find quite the right tool for the job. Our popular VSFX optical effect system is specified by lighting designers worldwide. Our Snow Machine, developed for Billy Elliot, won an award at the LDI Show, and has been used on many shows since.

All of these activities are serviced from our base in Wimbledon, south-west London, which offers 75,000 square feet of warehouse and equipment preparation space along with 10,000 square feet of office space. We also have Studio15, a state-of-the-art studio facility on site that clients can use for demonstrations, pre-rigging and post production work.

The overall result is a multi-faceted company employing over 200 people with an annual turnover of £20 million that covers every area of entertainment and corporate event industry.

In these changing times – both at home and in the world at large – WL provides a familiar touchstone offering superb service and support as it has done for more than four decades.
