"White Light and lighting designer Phil Supple have been a joy to work with in what was always going to be a challenging project. The White Light crew have worked with a number of partners, from local authorities to private land owners, in a very professional and accomodating way, understanding all of the different needs of the places we worked in. As project manager it has been a fantastic partnership, and one we would hope to develop for the future."
Zoe Bottrell on behalf of the Northumberland Strategic Partnership, project manager for Northumberland Lights
When the county of Northumberland decided to use lighting to add colour and intrigue to the long winter nights, they turned to White Light to help make that vision a reality.
We worked closely with lighting designer Phil Supple on a project which saw a team light up major landmarks across the county, including the nine wind turbines that stand at sea off the shore at Blyth, the centre of Blyth itself, a Winter Wonderland Show at Kielder Water, the Woodhorn Museum and Country Park, the hillside area of Simonside, Bamburgh Castle and a 'Guerrilla Lighting' team that makes surprise appearances at other sites. Where possible, the project used renewable energy sources and biodiesel fuel.
Northumberland Lights was such a success that the same team are currently working on the 2007 version, the brochure for which can be dowloaded here: cover, main brochure.
