The Role Summary:
We’re looking for a hands-on Operations Team Member to join our busy warehouse team. This is a physical, active role where you’ll be responsible for the accurate dispatch and return of professional lighting and events equipment. Working as part of a close-knit team, you’ll help ensure that equipment gets to and from shows on time, in perfect condition, and correctly documented.

This is a gateway role into the events industry – perfect for someone who enjoys physical work, stays calm under pressure, and wants to learn the business from the ground up. You’ll gain broad hands-on experience across our equipment and operations, opening up career progression opportunities whether that’s moving into supervision, specialising in technical workshops, or developing expertise in other areas of the warehouse.

The role is physically demanding – you’ll be lifting, carrying, moving equipment throughout the day. During quieter periods, you’ll also support other warehouse activities such as stock reorganisation and workshop projects, giving you valuable exposure across the whole operation.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Dispatch Operations

  • Collect, check, and prepare equipment for dispatch according to job paperwork and system requirements
  • Physically move equipment around the warehouse, load preparation areas, and organize for dispatch
  • Verify equipment condition and functionality before dispatch, acting as a quality checkpoint
  • Pack and protect equipment appropriately for transport to venue or client
  • Work with the logistics team to load equipment safely onto delivery vehicles, working with delivery drivers – this is physically demanding work involving lifting and carrying throughout the day
  • Update Hirehop system accurately to reflect equipment movements
  • Report any equipment faults or missing items to the Operations Supervisor or technical workshops before dispatch
  • Work with team members to meet tight dispatch deadlines, particularly during busy theatre production periods

Returns Operations

  • Work with the logistics team to unload returned equipment from vehicles and move it to appropriate processing areas
  • Receive and check returned equipment against paperwork, identifying any discrepancies
  • Inspect equipment for damage and report any issues to the Operations Supervisor and relevant technical teams
  • Assist the Workshops with cleaning and prepare equipment for storage or immediate re-dispatch
  • Physically move and store equipment correctly in designated workshop locations.
  • Process returns accurately in Hirehop, updating stock levels and equipment status
  • Identify patterns in equipment damage or issues and bring these to the supervisor’s or workshop attention

General Warehouse Operations

  • Maintain an organised, efficient work area using good housekeeping practices
  • Follow all established procedures and work instructions to ensure accuracy and consistency
  • Participate in daily team briefings, sharing information and raising any concerns
  • Work collaboratively with team members across operations and other workshops
  • Assist with stock counts and maintaining accurate inventory levels
  • Support warehouse reorganisations, stock moves, and other projects during quieter periods
  • Contribute ideas for improving processes and making work more efficient

Health, Safety & Standards

  • Follow health and safety guidelines at all times, using manual handling equipment correctly
  • Operate warehouse equipment safely including pallet trucks, scanners, and tablets
  • Maintain d&b solutions quality and service standards in all activities
  • Keep work areas clean, tidy, and safe for yourself and colleagues
  • Report any safety concerns or near misses to your supervisor immediately

Defining success in this role:

  • Achieves a high dispatch accuracy rate by ensuring equipment is picked, checked, recorded in Hirehop, and dispatched correctly and on time, with minimal errors, discrepancies, or missing items.
  • Processes returned equipment accurately and within agreed timescales by updating Hirehop promptly, identifying and reporting discrepancies or damage, and ensuring equipment is available for storage, maintenance, or re-dispatch without unnecessary delay.
  • Ensures equipment is dispatched in a clean, safe, and fully operational condition by consistently identifying and reporting faults or damage before dispatch or during returns processing, helping to minimise customer complaints and operational issues.
  • Maintains an organised, safe, and efficient warehouse by ensuring equipment is stored in the correct locations, housekeeping standards are consistently met, and inventory records accurately reflect physical stock levels.
