As a company, White Light is proud to have established itself as one of the leading technical suppliers to the broadcast industry. From the coverage of the Winter Olympic Games and UEFA Euro Championships to the more recent BBC Proms and Festival of Remembrance, as a company, we have proven that we are able to work on a range of projects and deliver the exact technical solutions required; especially in these ever-uncertain times. And whilst we are normally kept busy behind the camera, recently we have been making an appearance in front of it, with our team and projects being featured on several broadcasts. As such, we thought we’d put together a quick blog which highlights our various small screen cameos.

The Gadget Show
On Friday 27th November, Channel 5’s The Gadget Show included a feature on SmartStage. The segment focused on the development of xR and mixed-reality and how our technology and innovation is helping client across all sectors to deliver their projects in the these challenging and restrictive times. It featured our Technical Solution’s Director Andy Hook taking presenter Georgie Barrat through the immersive, all-encompassing xR experience and was filmed at both WL’s HQ and London’s Science Museum, which allowed viewers to see first-hand how the workflow runs and how guests are able to be ‘teleported’ into the space. You can watch the episode in full here.

BBC Breakfast
On Saturday 31st October, BBC Breakfast featured a segment on how Covid-19 has impacted the live events industry and how it urgently needs government support. As a leading company in this sector, as well as one of the largest supporters behind the #WeMakeEvents campaign, we were invited on as guests and our Managing Director Bryan Raven was interviewed about how the impact was being felt specifically at WL. The segment, which was filmed at our Wimbledon base, also featured an interview with Customer Services Team Leader Andy who is currently celebrating 27 years with the company. You can watch the video here.

ITV London
On Sunday 22nd November, ITV London ran a segment about the Covent Garden Christmas Tree lights which were being installed as part of the capital’s festive celebrations. The bulletin featured lots of footage of the installation and, as the company that was supplying the lighting fixtures and has done since 2012, our team were unsurprisingly captured on camera. Our favourite shot was that of On-Site Project Manager George Thruston on a cherry picker, meticulously attaching some lights to one of the tree branches.
