At WL, we are aware that we all still find ourselves in unprecedented times. The outbreak of COVID-19 has changed the way we live our lives and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future. As a company, one of our core values is Adaptability and this is something which we’ve really embraced as we navigate this unchartered territory; not only for ourselves but for those we work with.
As a company, we are continuing to help our clients adapt to new ways of working and overcome any barriers and obstacles which have arisen a result of COVID-19. Drawing on our 49 years of experience, constant investment in the latest technology and expert staff, we are able to offer all of our clients bespoke technical solutions to ensure they are able to continue working effectively, innovatively and, most importantly, safely.
Similarly, we are actively supporting a range of vital initiatives such as #WeMakeEvents as we try and ensure that our industry survives this current crisis.

Initially launched by PLASA in response to calls from its membership, the #WeMakeEvents campaign aims to raise awareness around the current plight of the live events sector and how it desperately needs financial support in order to survive the Covid-19 crisis.
It is now being steered by a collective of businesses, including WL, industry trade bodies and freelancers who are all working together to ensure it receives as much awareness as possible. The success of the initial activity has led to a global movement, with organisations from around the world coming together in a spirit of mutual support and solidarity.

While it's fantastic to see venues across the country slowly begin to open, we're fully aware that we're a long way from returning back to 'normal'.
That said, we've been inspired by how so many companies and buildings are coming up with innovative ways to transform empty spaces into places for performance.
As a company which has years of experience working in bespoke spaces, we've put together a brochure detailing what services we can offer, the previous shows we've worked on and how our team can help you to ensure that the show must go on..
Here at White Light we understand that this is a particularly difficult time for our family of Freelancers.
We appreciate that without them we cannot do what we do, and we thank them for their continued loyalty and hard work.
We are sending regular updates via e-mail, including details of where to find help and information about the Government’s support scheme for the self-employed.
We have found the Production Services Association (PSA) website to be a good source of information. White Light is a company member of the PSA, and John McEvoy, our Head of Business Delivery Resources, sits on the PSA Council.
Using the very latest LED technologies and VR workflows, SmartStage® is an immersive presentation environment that replaces the traditional green screen element of a virtual studio, allowing users to see and interact with the content around them. It can be used without any prior training or experience, allowing audiences both locally and internationally to immediately contribute and be part of the conversation. Scalable to any space, SmartStage® delivers real-time, face-to-face engagement and users can join in from anywhere across the globe, in the safety of remote access.
This award-winning technology can be used to facilitate remote content streaming, training and education, live broadcast, share corporate communications and enables virtual interaction across a range of audiences. Our Innovations team has been busy developing this solution to offer an exciting range of much needed applications during the current crisis.
Ultimately, in a world where we must keep our distance from each other and remain isolated, SmartStage® is genuinely able to bring people together virtually, allowing them to engage and communicate in the most authentic way possible.
With the current restrictions implemented by the government, we appreciate how this has created several challenges for the broadcast industry; whether it's the inability to utilise a traditional studio, a lack of equipment access or the need to create temporary presentation spaces. As a company which has worked on some of the world’s largest sporting broadcasts, and delivers Premier League coverage across the country on a weekly basis, our team is able to draw on its invaluable experience and expertise to put together a range of bespoke broadcast packages that can fulfil the needs of any client.
As a company, we are able to safely and efficiently create temporary studios, remote presentation spaces as well as units for outside broadcast. Our extensive inventory houses all of the equipment required to deliver high-quality broadcasts, such as lighting, video, set, rigging, cabling, power distribution, drapes and much more. Over the past week alone, our team has been called upon to help one of the UK’s largest sporting broadcasters deliver a show live from the presenter’s living room; using the 4G network and a mainly remote crew.
As a society, we are constantly having to adapt to these unprecedented times. Nothing highlights this more than the arenas and conference centres across the country now being transformed into makeshift hospitals.
With these changes expected to continue over the coming weeks, our team has put together a range of technical packages that are able to convert any environment into a fully functioning space. Whether it’s lighting, rigging, staging, power distribution, digital signage or communication systems, our team is ready to draw on its technical knowledge, reliable equipment and pool of expert freelancers to help create any temporary infrastructure required.
Who knew that over the course of just a few weeks our whole world would move online? Whether within your professional or personal life, or both, we’ve all had to adapt to the new situation in a very short lapse of time. It can be a bit daunting to comprehend how will we continue to interact and engage with our clients, colleagues and peers, as we move into the next phase and establish a ‘new normal’. As human beings, we thrive on regular interactions with people; so inevitably, we’ve recently seen the use of social networks and increased creativity with virtual forms of communication spike. What does this in turn mean for the imminent future of digital events?
In times like these, content is key as it creates and shapes your audience’s experience and generates engagement. Defining your digital event strategy and objectives is paramount to making your programme a success, as is finding the right tool to deliver it.
At WL, one of our primary focuses is to ensure people remain connected and continue to engage with one another in more effective ways. Whatever your strategy, we are here to offer customised solutions to ensure the success of your digital events.
Following the most recent government announcements, the majority of the UK now finds themselves working from home; an entirely new experience for millions of people. In these uncertain and challenging times, WL wants to ensure that this rapid process of working remotely is as smooth, pain-free and effective as possible. With that in mind, our Systems Design team are able to draw on their own experience and suggest products and packages which offer seamless, intuitive and reliable video conferencing solutions.
If you would like to learn more about how these systems can be integrated within your own organisation, our expert team can advise on all aspects of setting up streaming solutions, remote teaching or presentation platforms and high-quality remote working solutions. We can also offer to setup the systems before deployment and even remotely manage or assist them to help clients cope with this swift progress to remote working.
